Equipment Checkout

This facility, located in Building 124, has a wide variety of recreational, athletic and lawn and garden equipment available for checkout. Included are utility trailers, pressure washers, rug shampooers, campers, boats and motors, camping sets, fishing rods and log splitters. Fees are charged at daily, weekly and weekend rates. Propane tank refilling is also available. Click here to download a current equipment rental pricelist. Information is provided for local parks and campgrounds including the FamCamp located on the south end of the base near the skeet range. For more information, call 677-3959 or 677-5553.

Equipment rental

Eligibility

The Center is open to all base personnel, active duty military, base employees, dependents & guests. All patrons must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid ID card in their possession.

Equipment Check-out and Turn-in Policies

  1. Customers signing for receipt of equipment will be responsible for condition of listed equipment.
  2. Inspect the condition of items before they are checked out. If items are not serviceable, notify the recreation assistant.
  3. Items being turned in will be cleaned and in a serviceable condition.
    • Sand and dirt will be removed from tents, inside and out
      and they will be dry.
    • Tent stakes will be clean and free of mud and dirt. Poles will be assembled and also clean of mud, dirt and sand.
    • Reels will be free of sand and dirt. Rinse with fresh water.
  4. Do not try to turn in time if they have not been cleaned. A delay could cause additional charges. Items will not be accepted until they are clean.
  5. Customers will be assessed the estimated cost of repair to include labor for damaged items.
  6. Customer will replace items lost with a new item.
  7. Boats, canoes or campers will not be issued during the last hour of operation. A late fee of $25 will be assessed in addition to the original fee if above equipment is returned after 4 p.m.
  8. Allow enough time for check out and return.
    Organizational Check-Out
    Squadrons or organizations that are planning a picnic, special outing, commander's call or retirement ceremonies may check out select items. Free issue items are limited to field equipment/games, tables and chairs. Water coolers and ice chests are half price.

Blue Streak Bike Shop

The Blue Streak Bike Shop is located at Equipment Checkout and offers complete bicycle repair and maintenance services as well as a full assortment of retail services from parts & components to apparel, energy foods and sunglasses.

Eagles Nest Picnic Area

Offers four covered pavilions with barbeque grills and playground, volleyball and horseshoe areas. Pavilion areas may be reserved; otherwise, they are available on a first-come, first -serve basis. Reservation use takes priority. There is no fee to use the picnic area.

FamCamp slots are available on a first come, first serve basis. A deposit is required.

Outdoor Adventures Program

Get ready for big adventures with the Outdoor Adventure Program. Our program is an organized outfitter that allows you to sit back, relax, and let us do all the planning; we provide trip leadership, information, equipment and encouragement. The goal of the program is to offer new and exciting outdoor activities which promote physical fitness, confidence and peer interaction. Activities include mountain and road cycling, hiking, kayaking and white water rafting. We offer all levels of activities from the beginner to the advanced enthusiast, whether it's road cycling 100 miles in the Blue Ridge Mountains or just strolling along a quiet forest trail, we are sure to have a trip for you.

Eagle's Talon Paintball Field

The Eagle's Talon Paintball Field, located on the south side of the base near the AMC Museum is open for walk in play Saturday & Sunday. Operating hours are 9 am - 4 pm but are subject to change due to customer participation as well as weather. *If winds are in excess of 20 mph, the field will not be open. The field is also available for private functions Mon - Fri 9 am - Noon and 1 - 4 pm.

Complete rental packages are available for $20. Customers are welcome to use their own equipment as well. The field fee is $5 and all customers must purchase Outdoor Recreation supplied paintballs and CO2. Outdoor Recreation also offers a full service paintball pro shop complete with name brand markers, paintballs and apparel.
