The Base Librarian will introduce the Library's resources - books, magazines, CD-ROMs, and online services - as will as reviewing the use of the on-line catalog system. Surf Fishing Trip YoAFF, register by July 30, Outdoor Recreation
Celebrate the Year of the Air Force Family (YoAFF) and join the Adventure Quest team on July 31 as we cast our lines for the catch of the day and no, surf fishing does not involve a surf board. Surf fishing is a very low tech method of fishing directly off of the beach.
Anglers will cast their lines out over the breaking waves for a chance to catch a multitude of different species from flounder and bluefish to stingrays and sharks.
Our trip will take you to a beautiful stretch of beach at the Delaware Seashore State Park just south of Indian River Inlet.
Fee includes transportation, poles, guides and bait. A cooler will be provided for food and drinks. Be sure to bring sunscreen and a hat. This is a family friendly trip so load up the kids and join us for a day of fun till 5 p.m. Registration deadline is July 30 by 5 p.m. Minimum Participants: 6 for trip to go. Cost is $15 per person. Are YOU the Best Vocalist in AMC? Enter AMC ICON! Register by July 30, Community Center
Here's your chance to sing your way into fame at the Landings Club! A talent competition is being conducted at each AMC major installation, July - August. Each base will award $1,000 cash prize and the AMC Finals awards $2,000 cash prizes! This contest is open to all authorized patrons 18 years and older. Top finishing AF member will represent their base in the Command Finals at Scott AFB in October. AMC Icon is also open to all AMC AF members, to include Guard, Reserve, En route and AMC Tenant Unit members. Register now through July 30. Toughie Day Tournament, July 31, Eagle Creek Golf Course
This tournament will test even the best golfer - It's Toughie Day at the golf course. Format is ABCD computer pick scramble with tough course set up. Tee time is 8 a.m. Cost is $35 for green fees holders or $50 for non green fees holder. Fee includes green fee, cart, breakfast and prizes. Golfers must have a verifiable U.S.G.A. handicap. Thunder Alley Special, Eagle Lanes Bowling Center

We will accept sealed bids on the following items: 3 large TVs, a pool table, snooker table, foos ball table, 2 sets of large drapes, 2 gas grills, a glass display case and other items. Introduction to Word 2007 I, August 5, Base Library
Examine word processor window layout, create a document from scratch, open an existing document, edit the document, save a document (and using auto recovery) and much more during this free beginners class from 2 - 5 p.m. Workshop Prerequisite: To ensure that you can accomplish this workshop you must be familiar with the Windows Vista environment. Mountain Biking at Fair Hill, August 7, Outdoor Recreation
Air up the tires and join the Adventure Quest Team as we travel to Fair Hill, MD and tackle 10 miles of some of the best single track on the east coast. Fair Hill, known for its hiking, biking and horse riding trails sprawls over 5,633 rolling acres trucked in the North Eastern corner of Maryland. Our cycling journey will take us through green meadows, down quiet forested trails, across crystal clear streams, down rocky descents and over one of only two covered bridges in Cecil County. This intermediate level ride requires some basic mountain biking experience. If you are unsure that your riding ability and level of fitness are appropriate for this trip, please inquire as we want all participants to have an enjoyable experience. The pre-trip briefing begins at 7:30 a.m. and return time is 4 p.m.
Cost is $20 per person which includes bike, helmet, water bottle, guide and transportation.

Learn to Soul Line Dance, begins August 11, Community Center
Have you always wanted to learn to soul line dance? Here's your chance! The Community Center is offering soul line dance classes on Wednesday evenings at The Landings. Classes will be taught by C&K Soul Line Dancing of Dover*. Classes will include popular line dances such as: Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Casper Slide and much more.

Classes are $7 per night (payable at the class). Come out and take this opportunity to dance, socialize, exercise, and enjoy fun times along with great workouts. Food and beverages will be available in Grotto Pizza*. For more information call 677-3289.

Ladies Adventure Challenge, register by August 18, Outdoor Recreation
Attention Ladies!! Bring your sense of adventure on August 21 as we put you through your paces with a series of adventure challenges to include kayaking, hiking, skeet shooting and paintball. Participants will have the option of choosing the activity which suits them the best. The Adventure Quest team will be on hand to ensure you have a fun, exciting day of adventure. This is a program targeted towards beginners and is appropriate for everyone. Fee includes all equipment and lunch. Registration deadline is 18 August by 5 p.m. Cost: $25 per person. The ITT bus will drop you off on August 28 at The Mall near the Washington Monument where you'll be able to explore museums which offer free admission to all or hop on the Tourmobile Sightseeing Bus and catch all 40 major sites in and around our nation's capital. Destination ImagiNation - Math/Science Stations, register by August 16, Youth Center
This is a free camp for children ages 8 - 14 yrs and will be conducted August 16 - 20. Camp participants will:
- foster creative and critical thinking
- learn and apply creative problem solving methods and tools
- develop teamwork and collaboration skills
- enhance and apply written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- promote recognition, use, and development of many and varied strengths and talent
- have a ton of fun!

Lap Swimming at Oasis Pool, Outdoor Recreation
Lap swimming is now available for fitness purposes only (i.e., only military, civil service and dependents, who are authorized to patronize Force Support Squadron facilities for fitness purposes) effective now from 9 - 10 a.m., Monday - Friday. There will not be lane lines in the pool, so everyone will be on their own to not interfere with other swimmers. Two lifeguards will be on duty. Lap swimming is at no cost. Effective August 2, lap swimming will be held Monday - Friday 10 - 11 a.m. - continuing on this schedule through September 3. The pool closes for the season after September 7. Summer Reading Program, through August 14, Library
Voyage to Book Island! is the 2010 Summer Reading Program theme for the Library. Free activities will be held through August 14. Car, Truck and Bike Show, September 11, Arts & Crafts Center
Display your fancy ride at our Car, Truck and Bike Show on September 11 at the AMC Air Museum from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. (rain date: September 12). Vehicle display set-up will begin at 9 a.m. Your show vehicle(s) will be placed among the great wings of the military's aircraft in and around the museum's airplane displays. Also featured during this popular annual event will be musical entertainment, games, food, vendors and more. The entry fee is $10 per vehicle and includes a food voucher and a dash plaque. Awards in various vehicle categories include trophies, T-shirts, door and cash prizes. All car clubs are encouraged to join us for this special day! AF Marathon 2010, register now, Fitness Center - Get on the Dover Team!
You could be sponsored! The 436th Airlift Wing is sponsoring up to 20 assigned members to run in the Air Force Marathon this year. If more than 20 participants sign up, a lottery drawing will be held to select the members that will receive sponsorship. The sponsorship will cover the registration fee for entry (for the half marathon and full marathon ONLY) and a running shirt (a quality-made running shirt, not a cotton t-shirt) with the 436th Airlift Wing emblazoned on it. General online registration for the United States Air Force Marathon for 2010 is currently open. The 14th annual U.S. Air Force Marathon is September 18, 2010 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Race events include a marathon, wheeled marathon, half-marathon and 10K, which starts and finishes on the grounds of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
